THE IDEA Inspired by Karl Popper, a philosopher who proposed that the most interesting research comes from hypotheses that challenge what we believe today, a fundamental principle of the current paradigm was questioned by asking “are psychopathy and suffering mutually exclusive constructs?” THE JOURNEY Oscar Wilde, the esteemed poet and playwright, posited that an idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all. And few ideas have been more dangerous – or more resisted – than vulnerability and pain in individuals with psychopathy. Echoing Voltaire, however, it was found that no problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.
